Trans people have always been here! Trans rights are human rights!
Family crest of Joan of Arc (1412 - 1431), the patron saint of France.
Acting under divine guidance from the archangel Michael, Joan was appointed as a military leader and advisor of Charles VII in the war against the English. In 1429 they were sent to fight at the siege of Orléans, and soon after their arrival the English abandoned their position. They became a symbol of freedom and independence, transcending gender roles to gain recognition as a saviour of France.
In 1431 Joan was put on trial for heresy and was accused of having committed profanities by wearing men’s clothes and acting upon visions that were demonic. They were executed by burning at the age of 19.
Joan of Arc suffered the excruciating pain of being burned alive rather than renounce her identity... What an inspirational role model – a brilliant transgender peasant teenager leading an army of labourers into battle.
